About this track:

Written and recorded between March and April of 2020 in the artist’s bedroom studio located in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. The creation of the music had two major milestones. What began as an interplay between counter melodies on the piano was transformed when a sub frequency bass oscillator joined the party. With the volume up, the walls began rattling around this blissed-out piano player, leaving Magic floating in the ethereal with a fresh set of goosebumps. Once the musical ideas were able to provide the levitating platform, what followed vocally were a series of gently sung words, freestyled and selected randomly but filtered through a specific idea and the associated feelings inspired by that idea. Soon the most resonant words and melodies began to bind together and in a matter of moments, the song had found its form. Like buoyant clouds, the classification of this composition beckons imaginary genres like wave-hop, ear-bop and punk n’ bass.

For the accompanying visual, Magic Moments started with a series of unrehearsed self shot live performances of the song and then brought the footage into the computer for editing. By mixing complex visual processing algorithms to layer multiple passes of saturation, exposure and timing fluctuations, Magic stumbled onto an accidental discovery while exploring the idea of saturating video to the point of being mere stops away from the maximum allowable light. While watching the footage that resulted from these first experimental renderings, the artist felt a sense of weightlessness that matched the music. The performance is visually painted onto the viewer’s screen, blurring the line between the performer and the archetype. The story and meaning is unique to each person’s interpretation.

Together the music and the visual performance ask the audience to join the artist during each viewing so together they can mutually invest a little time for turning the fantasy into a reality.

Artist statement: “I planned to release different music, but felt an urgency to create and release something even newer, something from that very moment. I wanted to put energy towards uplifting ideas and the general sense of optimism for what was being manifested inside.”

With accomplishments that include working with the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry, having their music described as “a beacon for optimism” by Huffington Post, and performing at some of the most creative music festivals in the United States, Magic Moments is poised to make their biggest splash ever this year.
